I've lived at 7,000' above sea level and spend most of my time outside for the past 20+ years. I cannot stress enough the importance of mitigating sun exposure by covering up with clothing, hats and mineral-based sun protection.

So what's the big deal with mineral based sunscreen?

Mineral sunscreen a.k.a. physical sunscreen, works by putting an actual layer of minerals on your skin to help block the harmful rays from reaching your skin.

Shade is made with food-grande non-nano zinc and will turn your skin a bit on the white side, but for the most part rubs in pretty nice. The cardboard packaging can be recycled or even added to your home compost (just peel the label off first!)

The SPF level hasn't been tested and will depend on how thick it is applied. For best results, mineral-based sunscreen should be reapplied every 2 hours or every hour if you are sweating.
